Let's be honest...
When an athlete is frustrated, overwhelmed, or stuck in their own head, telling them to "just be positive" rarely changes anything.
Not because they don't want to feel better.
Because in those moments, they're no longer thinking clearly—they're reacting to their emotions.
Most parents and coaches have the best intentions, yet very few have been taught how to help an athlete regain composure when pressure, mistakes, or self-doubt take over.
That's where performance begins to unravel.
The real truth? The athletes who consistently perform at the highest level aren't mentally tougher because they think more positively. They're able to regulate their emotions, reset quickly, and stay focused—even when the game isn't going their way.
Emotional regulation isn't a personality trait. It's a trainable performance skill.
And when an athlete learns to master it, confidence becomes more consistent, resilience grows stronger, and pressure becomes something they know how to navigate—not something they fear.
And teaching this skill, is my expertise.

At first glance, these may seem like separate challenges...
Overthinking & Hesitation
Loss of Confidence
Chronic Self Doubt
Crushing it in practice then becoming invisible in games
Inconsistent Performance
Being overly critical of themselves
Comparison to other players
Sensitive to Feedback
Lack of focus
Feeling overwhelmed
Loss of Motivation
Difficulty bouncing back after mistakes
Scoring plateaus
Being unable to break the lineup
But they're often connected by the same underlying pattern.
It's not a lack of talent.
It's not a lack of work ethic.
And it's rarely a lack of motivation.
It's the inability to regulate what happens internally when pressure rises.
When an athlete doesn't know how to reset their emotional state, their mind stays stuck in the past—replaying mistakes, repeating negative thoughts on a loop, and pulling their focus away from the present moment.
The athletes who consistently perform under pressure aren't free from fear, doubt, or adversity.
They've simply learned how to recover from those moments faster.
That's what emotional regulation makes possible.
It's the skill that allows athletes to quiet the noise, regain composure, trust themselves again, and return to playing the game instead of fighting the thoughts in their head.

Currently Dr. Shelby is only working with clients privately.
Private 1:1 Coaching: Every journey starts with the 3-Month Elite Program. This is the foundation—the deep identity, mindset recalibration that shifts your athletes' performance (and life) from the inside out.
Every athlete is unique—but the common thread? You’ll feel it.
• More emotional resilience under pressure.
• Quicker recovery from mistakes.
• Deeper confidence—not just in sport, but in life
• A noticeable shift in how your athlete carries themselves on and off the ice. This isn’t just about playing better. It’s about becoming unshakable when the pressure hits.
Individual results vary. Coaching outcomes depend on each athlete’s unique circumstances and level of participation in the homework processes.

While my background is in elite-level hockey, my High Performance Mindset Program transcends sport. If your son or daughter is an elite performer facing high-pressure environments, this work will meet them exactly where they are at—and take them beyond it.
This is not surface-level coaching. When your Athlete steps into this experience, they will receive:
Weekly Private 1:1 Coaching Sessions (60 minutes) Deep recalibration work—identity and mindset realignment in real time.
Weekly Accountability Check-Ins Gentle but precise nudges to keep your athlete anchored in their growth, even when life gets loud.
High-Performance Workbook Custom tools, prompts, and recalibration exercises designed to deepen the work between sessions.
Parent Weekly Updates Every week, parents receive a high-level summary: what we covered, shifts we’re seeing, and where we’re focusing next—so you stay connected to the process.
There’s no set age limit. It’s never about a number—it’s about alignment. When you apply, we’ll have a conversation. If your athlete can answer my core questions —even if they are nervous—then I know your athlete is ready for this work. Because results aren’t created through age. They’re created through resonance, readiness, and the willingness to meet themselves fully. If that alignment is there, the transformation will be too.
That’s normal that they may feel nervous—and expected. The program is built to meet your athlete exactly where they are at, without pressure, pushing, or forcing. We will also make sure we are an aligned match to work together in the Discovery Conversation before taking any steps forward. When we do move forward and either your athlete or I decide that we are no longer a match to work together, you can request a refund for any unused sessions.
Before any investment is made, you’ll receive a full financial agreement outlining all terms clearly—so everything feels grounded, transparent, and aligned from the very beginning. This isn’t about locking anyone in. It’s about building a foundation of mutual respect, clarity, and trust—right from the start.
All coaching sessions are done via Zoom. Each session is built around what will create the most impact for your athlete right now. While I do have a core curriculum designed to shift identity, resilience, and leadership embodiment, I don't force a rigid structure. I meet your athlete exactly where they are—and weave the teachings into whatever is the highest energetic and emotional priority that day. Some sessions may feel like deep recalibration work. Others may feel like tactical energetic upgrades. All of it is intentionally crafted to move them forward—based on who they're becoming, not just what they're doing. In this space, the curriculum serves the athlete—not the other way around.
Once your athlete is accepted into the program, we find a time that works for both of us. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all schedule. We collaborate to create a rhythm that supports their training, school, and recovery needs—without adding more pressure to their life. Consistency matters—but so does honoring their real-world demands. This work is built to integrate into their world, not overwhelm it.
The best time is now. This work isn’t an add-on. Emotional Regulation is the foundation.
Learning how to regulate yourself under pressure is one of the most important skills you can learn in life to be successful. The Program strengthens and magnifies every other investment you’ve made in her growth—training, camps, nutrition, the best equipment, skills development. Everything begins with your Mindset.
